What does supervision at CICA look like?
CICA provides a 1 hour weekly supervision with Emily Feigenberg, LICSW and a monthly peer consultation (i.e. group supervision) facilitated by Lisa Garcia, LMHC. Please feel free to let us know if your school/program has additional supervision requirements prior to your initial interview.
How many clients will interns be working with?
Interns will generally aim to reach and maintain a caseload of 10 - 15 clients. Caseloads can vary based on each intern’s individual requirements, as well as client interest.
When can an intern expect to see their first client?
Consult calls are expected to begin in the 2nd and 3rd week of the program and sessions to begin in the 3rd and 4th week. The first 2 weeks are earmarked for training and onboarding.
How are clients assigned to interns at CICA?
We do not assign clients at CICA as we believe clients are best suited to choose the clinician they wish to work with. Instead, clients will be able to view your profiles on our website and some popular clinician directories (e.g. Psychology Today). This may sound daunting, but you will receive ongoing support when drafting the written elements of your profiles to ensure we’re marketing your best clinical self.
Interested clients will then reach out to request an appointment via email, or through our website’s Appointment Request Form,
What are the hourly commitments at CICA?
We require 24 total hours per week, across at least 3 weekdays. We also require up to 10 hours prior to the start of your internship (typically during the Summer months), to facilitate creating your profiles on our website and beyond.
Is this a paid internship?
CICA’s Clinical Internship is currently unpaid.
What does CICA offer outside of seeing clients?
Interns will be running a clinical group and workshop, developing a staff training, engaging in a bi-weekly chapter discussion, and finally, helping develop a plan to improve (whether marginally or significantly) the internship experience for subsequent intern cohorts.
Does CICA offer trainings?
CICA interns will be onboarded during the first 2 weeks at the practice, covering how to navigate EMR, take consult calls, conduct intakes, learn company ethics and policies, navigating administrative needs, group and workshop training, and vicarious trauma training.
What is the general client population at CICA?
We try our best to tailor your profile to appeal to the kinds of clients you hope to work with. However, there are no guarantees with regard to the kind of clients you will actually have. A popular trend at the practice has been clients ranging from 18 to 35.
Is CICA an in-person practice?
CICA is a hybrid practice. Interns are required to attend the in-person staff meeting the first Wednesday of every month and maintain one in-person day of client-facing availability per week. Office space will be assigned to each intern, subject to availability.
How does CICA foster a sense of community across the practice, including interns?
We host quarterly events designed to bring the practice together and enjoy one another’s company – we’re happy to share more details during initial interviews, if you’re interested!
Will there be other interns?
Yes! You won't be flying solo
What equipment will I be expected to bring? What will I be provided with?
Clinical Interns receive a laptop for any/all CICA-related work. This device is used for attending remote meetings, hosting telehealth sessions, and independent work/research. Clinical Interns are able to use their practice line numbers on their personal mobile phones for conducting consult/collateral calls, etc – its use is generally minimal.
What paperwork are Interns expected to complete?
Interns will be responsible for completing progress notes, intake assessments, and creating a treatment plan. Progress note must be completed within 24 hours and intake documentation in 3 weeks from the first session. Upon termination with a client, Interns are expected to complete a discharge summary. All documentation is reviewed by your Supervisor.
